About
Me
I love directing theater.
I'm a Resident Director at the Flea Theater, where I have had the incredible fortune to develop work with award-winning writers such as Arthur Yorinks, Krista Knight, and Nathan Leigh. I'm the Resident Director at the Jewish Plays Project, where I spend my time working on plays that deal in issues of contemporary Jewish identity. And I'm a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab.
I'm passionate about new work, particularly musicals, and recently directed the world premiere of Wars and Whores: The Henry IV Musical by Jeffrey Barg and Sarah Ollove (which is coming to New York this fall!). I'm currently workshopping Rose Garden Recipe, a new children's musical by Rebecca Schoffer and Nathan Leigh at the Flea, where I directed a production of the children's play The Flying Latke by Arthur Yorinks in December. My new play credits include directing the world premieres of Hollywood, Gutter Space and a workshop of Africa, all by Keith Boynton, Cheesesteak Latkes by Matt Ocks, and the first production of Blogologues, Lively Productions ever-popular series dramatizing blog posts. I also directed the west coast premiere of The Gift Horse by Lydia R. Diamond (Stick Fly).
I'm developing a new play based on my experiences in India, where I directed a cross-cultural production of Sophocles' Philoctetes in 2008 that was cut short by the Mumbai terror attacks. And I work throughout New York as a sound, lighting, and projection designer. I'm also a Guest Artist at the Lab School for Collaborative Studies, where I direct the students in classic plays I wouldn't get to do anywhere else, like Rhinoceros and Tartuffe.
